Preparations and properties of alkylated azo and azoxybenzenes

Abstract

“The present work has three main objects, namely: 1) To investigate the reduction of series of mono- and dialkylated nitrobenzenes with methanolic and ethanolic sodium hydroxide and zinc dust, sodium 2-hydroxyethoxide in ethylene glycol, and also 1,4-naphthoquinone in methanolic sodium hydroxide; 2)to synthesize some new symmetrical di- and tetra-alkylated azo and azoxybenzenes: and 3) to study the electronic and infrared spectra of alkylated azo and azoxybenzenes.”
