Aseptic technique: Knowledge, application and improvement

Abstract

The prevalence of nosocomial infection (hospital acquired) has placed increasing emphasis on infection control in hospitals throughout North America. The role of the nurse in prevention of disease and illness is important. Correspondingly, the role of the nurse in infection control is crucial. As a means of infection control, the nurse is expected to use aseptic technique. This study examined aseptic technique as it is known by the nurse, practiced by the nurse and in terms of how it may be improved.
